Hmm, there is really nothing to see there. i think i saw the same freeze, twice since the latest round of updates: kernel-2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.13.0-0.21.20100219gite68d3a389.fc12.x86_64 xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.7.5.901-1.fc12.x86_64 libdrm-2.4.17-1.fc12.x86_64 mesa-dri-drivers-experimental-7.7-4.fc12.x86_64 (i'm not sure if i'm actually using those 'experimental' mesa drivers though.) the hang instantly freezes the entire system - the only option is to press the reset button or power off. haven't seen such an extreme freeze for years .. maybe decades! my system is a desktop with a HD2600. i've switched to nomodeset now and haven't seen another freeze since then. It happens to me on shutdown and restart. When nomodeset is used, it works OK. How can I help in debugging this? And it also happens in Fedora 13. (Dell 1545, Radeon HD 4330) Bad news: it also sometimes hangs with nomodeset. Good news: 2.6.34-11.fc14 WORKS fine (no hang on shutdown) WITH modesetting (has some other bugs, but this one is fixed). Update: 2.6.34-21.fc13.x86_64 from [1] works great, for me at least. Reporter, can you try it and report your experiences?
