Description Amit Shah 2010-03-13 05:34:51 UTC
Created attachment 399811 [details]
/var/log/messages

Description of problem:

Upon booting the f13 alpha livecd, I get a lot of these in my dmesg output:

DMAR:[DMA Write] Request device [00:02.0] fault addr a400000
DMAR:[fault reason 05] PTE Write access is not set
DRHD: handling fault status reg 2
DMAR:[DMA Write] Request device [00:02.0] fault addr a400000
DMAR:[fault reason 05] PTE Write access is not set
DRHD: handling fault status reg 2

It seems to continuously spew out those messages.

I'm seeing similar messages, except this is on Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.x86_64

Mar 13 21:16:23 lt26923 kernel: DRHD: handling fault status reg 3
Mar 13 21:16:23 lt26923 kernel: DMAR:[DMA Read] Request device [01:00.0] fault addr 0
Mar 13 21:16:23 lt26923 kernel: DMAR:[fault reason 06] PTE Read access is not set

Comment 3 Ajay Ramaswamy 2010-03-27 07:35:52 UTC
I see the same on a Thinkpad W700 workaround that I have found is intel_iommu=off on the grub command line or disable VT-d in the BIOS

Very similar here:

Comment 5 David Woodhouse 2010-06-15 20:39:59 UTC
Looks like at least two entirely separate bugs here.

Comments 0 and 1 look like a recurrence of bug 538163, because the patch for that got dropped from F-13.

Comments 2 and 4 look like bug 561267, a nouveau bug.

No idea about comment 3 which lacks any information. Please open a fresh bug and Cc me, providing full dmesg and 'lspci -nn' output.
