Description Giuseppe Raimondi 2001-12-20 11:44:52 UTC
Description of Problem:
on the 7.2 box is stated a minimum of 32 MB is required for a text install,
but this is not enough

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How Reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start installation
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Some rpms are reported to be faulty. this happens randomly, i.e. it's not
always the same rpm making problems. I used original cds.
it let's you go on with installation, but a lot of things won't work

Expected Results:
install 7.2

Additional Information:
it was on an old compaq deskpro with 32 MB ram.
I tried to install in text mode. I had something like 100-150MB swap.
My guess is the machine was just swapping too much.
I have a adaptec aic7xxx scsi controller with attached cdrom and hdd.
upgrading to 256MB installed from same cds with no problems.

We've done both installs and upgrades on systems with 32 megs; are you sure
you're not having problems reading the media (looking in /tmp/install.log from
tty2 could be handy to determine that)

Comment 2 Giuseppe Raimondi 2002-01-10 10:00:01 UTC
the machine was just not reacting anymore, so I was not able to switch console.
as long the installation was proceding I checked in all the VC, but I couldn't
find anything too strange

Please check the md5sum of the install media.
