Description Nils O. Selåsdal 2001-12-23 10:58:46 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.78 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.4.9-7 i686)

Description of problem:
The cmpci(for cmedia chipsets) sound driver in the 2.4.7/2.4.9 kernels
doesnt work. There is only sound in one of the speakers, and it
sounds like a really bad tuned-in radio. In RH 7.1 with the 2.4.2 kernel it
works perfectly.
The same have been observed with atleast the plain 2.4.10-2.4.16 kernels.
If I need to configure/setup something I havent thought of, or there is a
workaround, _please_ give me a note at NOS

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
 2.4.7/2.4.9 And plain 2.4.10-2.4.16 kernels

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I only did this on my computer.
1. Install RH 7.2, it'll autodetect the audio chipset. Or run sndconfig to
configure it.
2. Fire up a sound prog, e.g. xmms, or just KDE.

Actual Results: I can only hear sound in one speaker, and its really
fuzzy, like
a bad tuned in radio.

Expected Results: Flawless stereo sound like in RH7.1 with the 2.4.2-2
kernel
