It turns out that with at least some Pheonix bioses that bluetooth and other functions need to be turned on from within the operating system. After installing the above mentioned packages I had to modify /etc/modprobe.d/omnibook.conf which looked something like: alias acpi:TOS6205: omnibook To: alias acpi:TOS6205: omnibook options omnibook userset=1 ectype=12 in order to get my bluetooth to work. And consquently, the crashing stopped, at least after a couple of reboots I hope this was helpful. Hmmm... I had to go and upgrade to Fedora 13 didn't I :) Anyway... Just wanted to let everyone know that the omnibook kmod and akmod does not seem to work with kernel version 2.6.33.4-95.fc13.x86_64. The Fedora 13 akmod works well with previous Fedora 12 kernel 2.6.32.12-115.fc12.x86_64 but only after I erased the Fedora 12 kmods After making sure that omnibook.conf is configured correctly and rebooting into the older kernel the akmods recompiled as advertised and bluetooth is working correctly. Bug reports at rpmfusion and upstream at: https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1236 and https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2995575&group_id=174260&atid=868542 Seems to be working again with: kernel-2.6.33.5-112.fc13.x86_64 kmod-omnibook-2.6.33.5-112.fc13.x86_64-2.20090714-0.4.svn288.fc13.7.x86_64 omnibook-2.20090714-0.5.svn288.fc13.noarch akmod-omnibook-2.20090714-0.4.svn288.fc13.5.x86_64 kmod-omnibook-2.6.32.12-115.fc12.x86_64-2.20090714-0.4.svn288.fc13.5.x86_64 I've reported the problem to tech support over at realtek via email. I received a new driver from Realtek.... Everything seems to be working fine now. The driver has yet to be posted on their website. So I asked them either post, provide an explanation, and / or allow me to post it. This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping For me and this issue everything seems to have been resolved with the omnibook drivers from rpmfusion Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
