Description Igor Bukanov 2010-04-17 22:33:16 UTC
Description of problem:

Running LiveDVD or attempting to install Fedora 13 beta on Fujitsu Lifebook S760 laptop (Intel i5 M520 CPU) results in a garbage video output. The screen shows just many narrow colored vertical lines. Passing nomodeset as the kernel parameter results in the blank screen, but at least in this case Alt-F2 successfully switches to a text-mode login prompt.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora 13 beta

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Boot from LiveDVD for Fedora 13 beta.

Actual results:

Video is completely garbaged

Expected results:

Normally working graphical output.

Note that with a beta of Ubunto 10.4 (2.6.32-19 kernel) everything works just fine.

Just wanted to jump in here with a me too. Broken for me as well on a lenovo t510 with a core i7, intel HD graphics. Exact same symptoms as the original post.

Comment 2 Igor Bukanov 2010-07-11 19:42:48 UTC
With the F13 everything works properly. So I guess this has been fixed before the release.

Faced the same bug in Fedora 15 and Ubuntu 11.04. Currently using workaround of adding kernel parameter nomodeset=1 with horrible graphics. Link to ubuntu bug I filed
