looks like a crash in the c library again, updating component

This is not a crash, but a deliberate suicide.

Jonn, did you maybe build the cscope database on one system and use it on a different system?  Was the former x86_64 and teh latter i686 by any chance?

Used: build in fedora packages without any changes:

uname -a
Linux localhost 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Apr 5 19:59:38 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

rpm -qa | grep cscope
cscope-15.6-8.fc12.x86_64
cscope-debuginfo-15.6-8.fc12.x86_64
