Flavio, does command_names or prefix affect orher invocations of lvm.static that are made from mkinitrd? I can see that they change the output of vgdisplay and lvs which are used in mkinitrd but I'm not sure if parsing will go wrong in all cases. Hi Alexander, Yes, it does. This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has requested further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update release. *** Bug 748733 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to comment #15) > *** Bug 748733 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** With the Beta 1.0 tree the duplicate bug is not happening anymore. Systems can boot fine. # rpm -q mkinitrd mkinitrd-5.1.19.6-75.el5 # grep lvm.static /sbin/mkinitrd local vg=$(lvm.static lvs --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' --ignorelockingfailure --noheadings -o vg_name /dev/$slavedev 2>/dev/null) local vg=$(lvm.static lvs --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' --ignorelockingfailure --noheadings -o vg_name $1 2>/dev/null) for device in $(lvm.static vgdisplay --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' --ignorelockingfailure -v $vg 2>/dev/null | sed -n 's/PV Name//p'); do vg=$(lvm.static lvs --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' --ignorelockingfailure --noheadings -o vg_name $rootdev 2>/dev/null) for pv in $(lvm.static vgdisplay --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' --ignorelockingfailure -v $vg 2>/dev/null | sed -n 's/PV Name//p'); do inst /sbin/lvm.static "$MNTIMAGE/bin/lvm" /sbin/lvm.static dumpconfig --config 'log{command_names=0 prefix=" "}' > $MNTIMAGE/etc/lvm/lvm.conf Update /etc/lvm/lvm.conf and set command_names=1, prefix="---" # lvs lvs---LV VG Attr LSize Origin Snap% Move Log Copy% Convert lvs---LogVol00 VolGroup00 -wi-ao 37,91G lvs---LogVol01 VolGroup00 -wi-ao 1,97G # pvs pvs---PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree pvs---/dev/vda2 VolGroup00 lvm2 a-- 39,88G 0 # vgs vgs---VG #PV #LV #SN Attr VSize VFree vgs---VolGroup00 1 2 0 wz--n- 39,88G 0 Rebuild the initrd.img: # mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.6.18-300.el5.img $(uname - lvm.conf from the newly generated initrd.img contains: log { verbose=0 syslog=1 overwrite=0 level=0 indent=1 command_names=1 prefix="---" } Reboot: ... skip ...
