Description adam.foster 1999-10-14 13:09:14 UTC
We have installed Redhat 6.1 on two machines and lpr now fails on both of them. The problems range from reporting negative file sizes in lpq, jobs getting stuck in the queue and complaints about lpd not running when it clearly is. I have tried the new 0.42-1 version and the 0.35 version and neither of these help.
Comment 1 Bill Nottingham 1999-10-14 15:21:59 UTC
So you're saying that neither the 0.42-1, nor the 6.1 lpr, nor the 6.0 lpr now work for you?
Comment 2 adam.foster 1999-10-14 16:12:59 UTC
Ok, the 0.35 version wasn't Redhat 6.0, but another build. I got the 0.35-1 from Rh6.0 and the problem now seems to have disappeared on both machines.
Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 1999-10-14 20:12:59 UTC
Can you try the lpr-0.42-2 RPMs at people.redhat.com/notting/lpr and see if they improve the situation at all?
Comment 4 adam.foster 1999-10-15 10:07:59 UTC
No, 0.42-2 has the same problem, the job reaches the remote queue but never prints.
Comment 5 Bill Nottingham 1999-10-15 15:10:59 UTC
What does the control & data file look like in the remote queue?
Comment 6 Bill Nottingham 1999-10-15 16:39:59 UTC
Also, could you try the 0.42-2debugging and confirm that they fail as well?
Comment 7 Craig Kelley 1999-10-16 01:46:59 UTC
I have also noticed this behavior using RedHat 6.0.
Comment 8 Bill Nottingham 1999-10-18 03:22:59 UTC
This should be fixed with the 0.43-2 errata release. If not, please re-open.
