Description fedora-bugzilla 2010-06-16 19:58:40 UTC
Please update all transmission packages to latest version found here:
http://www.transmissionbt.com/index.php

Current version in fedora 12/13 is 1.93

Current stable version of transmission is 2.0

This is not a bug but RFE

I can push this version to Rawhide but not sure I want to update the releases in Fedora 13 or Fedora 12. We have had too many updates recently. Charles, what do you recommend?

Comment 2 fedora-bugzilla 2010-06-16 21:40:40 UTC
Would really love to see this pushed to f12/13...got a few features i need.

Comment 3 Rahul Sundaram 2010-06-16 21:48:13 UTC
I can do a scratch build for you. That isn't a big deal

Comment 4 fedora-bugzilla 2010-06-16 21:55:41 UTC
Im not familiar with what a scratch build is....but im capable of compiling the latest transmission myself...but i hate manually compiling things on a rpm based distro.

Comment 5 Rahul Sundaram 2010-06-16 22:01:35 UTC
scratch builds are temporary builds in the build system that will get you the RPM packages without putting them in the repository.

Comment 6 fedora-bugzilla 2010-06-16 22:09:49 UTC
ok so it would basicly be installing a stand alone rpm.

I'd recommend for rawhide but not f12 or f13. There aren't any major bugs that require jumping from 1.9x to 2.0x.

Fedora 13 scratch build

Fedora 12 scratch build

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2255123

I have built it for Rawhide. Closing this. If there is sufficient interest, I can create a separate repo and push the builds there for stable releases.

Comment 9 Andre Robatino 2010-06-17 15:36:48 UTC
I'd like to see this pushed to F12/F13 just for its proper use of units (not mixing SI prefixes with IEC numbers like before). There appear to be some nice GUI enhancements as well. Using the F13 scratch build, not seeing any problems so far.

Comment 10 Charles Kerr 2010-06-17 16:26:59 UTC
It would be better to wait a little. Transmission's list of supported platforms is getting really long, and 2.00 has a lot of new code. At a minimum, let's wait a bit and see if 2.01 comes rolling out next week. ;)

Besides, I'm not sure that I agree with the premise of backporting to f12/f13 for the sake or new features.
