After upgrading to Fedora 13 every time I rebooted the screen was black where there would normally be a login screen.  After following the instructions at 

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F12_bugs

I added 'nomodeset' as a kernel parameter and my system then booted as expected.  I searched for this bug and found:

I do not have a xorg.conf

after trying to go back and reproduce my problem without the nomodeset kernel option I was able to startup sucessfully and could not reproduce the problem.
