Description of problem:
when using nouveau driver I cannot switch to console after booting the machine with no screens connected. With vesa everything works well

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.32-44.el6.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-8.20100423git13c1043.el6


Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot up with no screens attached
2.switch to console

  
Actual results:
no console

Expected results:
console shown

Interesting, I can't reproduce this issue here with the same kernel. I:

- booted without displays attached until gdm was up and running
- attached DVI, watched gdm appear at native resolution
- VT-switched to console and watched it appear at 1024x768

Are you able to attach dmesg output for your case (even better if you append "drm.debug=14" to your boot options), something may stick out there which gives a clue as to what's happening.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux.  The error has been fixed and this
request has been re-proposed for the current release.
