Description Felix Möller 2010-07-22 11:34:39 UTC
I got today an invoice from my webhoster.

fm@thinkpad:~/Desktop # pdfinfo 10466012.pdf
Creator: R and OS php pdf writer, http://www.ros.co.nz
CreationDate: Thu Jul 22 00:00:00 2010
Tagged: no
Pages: 1
Encrypted: no
Page size: 595.28 x 841.89 pts (A4)
File size: 4638 bytes
Optimized: no
PDF version: 1.3

okular does not open this invoice as it says there is no plugin for text/plain:
fm@thinkpad:~/Desktop # kmimetypefinder 10466012.pdf
text/plain
(accuracy 5)

evince does not open the file with a message that "Microsoft Help Attribute Definition" is not supported.

xpdf opens the file without a problem. :-(

The file contains private information, therefore it is not attached yet. But I can send it to anybody interested in the problem.

Comment 1 Marek Kašík 2010-07-22 11:38:10 UTC
Hi Felix,

could you send the file to my address? I'll have a look at it later.

Regards

Marek

Comment 2 Felix Möller 2010-07-22 11:47:05 UTC
Thanks for your fast response!

I have sent the file to Marek.

More info which might be usefull:
fm@thinkpad:~/Desktop # rpm -qf `which evince` `which okular` \
 /usr/lib/libpoppler.so `which kmimetypefinder` `which xpdf`
evince-2.30.3-1.fc13.i686
kdegraphics-4.4.5-2.fc13.i686
poppler-devel-0.12.4-2.fc13.i686
kdebase-runtime-4.4.5-1.fc13.i686
xpdf-3.02-15.fc13.i686

Comment 3 Felix Möller 2010-07-22 12:21:47 UTC
Ok, I found the problem. I had a broken mime-info package.

After running:
yumdownloader shared-mime-info
rpm -Uvh shared-mime-info-0.71-1.fc13.i686.rpm --force

kmimetypefinder is sane again and evince and okular open the file...
fm@thinkpad:~/Desktop # kmimetypefinder 10466012.pdf
application/pdf
(accuracy 100)

Sorry for the noise.
