Description Need Real Name 2010-07-28 21:46:15 UTC
system-config-printer-1.2.3-3.fc13.x86_64

s-c-p bizarrely chooses 90 degrees rotated rather than the default (portrait) when adding a new printer.

HP-Officejet-6500-E709a

Comment 1 Need Real Name 2010-07-28 21:52:05 UTC
It chooses landscape rather than portrait.

Comment 2 Need Real Name 2010-07-28 21:52:16 UTC
HP Officejet 6500 e709a, hpcups 3.10.5

Comment 3 Jiri Popelka 2010-07-29 09:02:13 UTC
In my case s-c-p leaves the Orientation set to 'Automatic rotation'.

What does 'lpoptions -p HP-Officejet-6500-E709a | grep orientation' show ?

Comment 4 Need Real Name 2010-07-29 16:12:23 UTC
It shows nothing.

Comment 5 Tim Waugh 2010-07-29 16:20:13 UTC
I think you'll need to describe in a bit more detail what you are doing, what results you are seeing, and what you expect to see. e.g. "start system-config-printer, double-click X, select Y, and see Z in the drop-down list labelled 'foo'"

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2011-06-01 12:36:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Basically adding an HP printer using the wizard defaults to american letter paper size.

Comment 8 Tim Waugh 2011-06-01 16:06:52 UTC
What does 'cat /etc/sysconfig/i18n' say, and what about the output of the 'locale' command?

Comment 9 Need Real Name 2011-06-01 16:15:06 UTC
Odd:

$ cat /etc/sysconfig/i18n
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

$ locale
LANG=en_GB.utf8
LC_CTYPE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.utf8"
LC_TIME="en_GB.utf8"
LC_COLLATE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MONETARY="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_GB.utf8"
LC_PAPER="en_GB.utf8"
LC_NAME="en_GB.utf8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_GB.utf8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_GB.utf8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_GB.utf8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_GB.utf8"
LC_ALL=

Comment 10 Tim Waugh 2011-06-01 16:20:36 UTC
CUPS adjusts the PPD for new queues to match the locale it sees -- the system locale, as it is a system process. The system locale must be set correctly in order for this to work.

Changing component to control-center for "no way to set system locale".

Comment 11 Fedora End Of Life 2012-08-06 19:58:41 UTC
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that

would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
