Description Elliot Peele 2010-07-30 17:27:28 UTC
On June 7, 2010 RHBA-2010:0456 was released, adding the xen and xen-devel package to the rhel-i386-client-5 channel, but not rhel-x86_64-client-5 channel. Previously only the xen-libs package was available for both rhel-i386-client-5 and rhel-x86_64-client-5.

Why were these packages only added for the i386 channel? Was this intentional?

rPath Tracking Issue: https://issues.rpath.com/browse/PFM-758

Comment 1 Elliot Peele 2010-08-03 14:19:39 UTC
It looks like the same thing happened with libvirt on 7/12/10 as part of RHBA-2010:0524.

Why are these packages not being added to the x86_64 channel?

Comment 2 Miroslav Rezanina 2010-08-19 12:37:58 UTC
This was not intentional. Packages distribution didn't changed.

Comment 3 Elliot Peele 2010-08-19 17:27:07 UTC
Will the missing packages be added to the x86_64 channel?

Comment 15 Alexander Todorov 2010-10-15 14:40:21 UTC
Test 1:
- Install a clean 5.5 client system, @base package set
- register to stage (main channel only)
- try yum install <list of above packages>

Result: None of the above packages is available in the main channel => PASS

Test 2:
- Same as 1) but register to Client + all child channels

Result:
Packages are installed from appropriate channels: VT and Workstation. Versions are the same or higher from those listed => PASS.

Test 3: by ohudlick
(17,10,03) ohudlick|h: I am in the meantime doing following: use the el5 i386 client stable system - remove the listed packages and try to update from stage
(17,23,40) ohudlick|h: so far my testing is positive:
(17,24,00) ohudlick|h: 0. removed all BADpkgs
(17,24,49) ohudlick|h: 1. vt,workstation channels disabled -> no BAD package available for update from stage
(17,25,17) ohudlick|h: 2. vt enabled -> able to install xen, libvirt in latest nvr
(17,25,53) ohudlick|h: 3. workstation enabled -> able to install remaining pkgs

Moving the bug to VERIFIED.
