Description of problem:

This kernel killed wireless off my notebook.  It just flashes briefly during bootup, but then its broken completely.  Now this kernel is useless on this machine.

I suspect its not been compiled using all the wireless drivers in the past kernels.  The 2.6.34.1 kernel in koji does work, so something in the .2's has been dripped and needs to be put back in.

This is fixed in 2.6.34.3-rc1, already built in koji, and this fix was mentioned in comment #6 in bodhi for the 2.6.34.2 kernel.

Just wondering why a kernel with broken wireless was pushed to testing, it should have stayed in koji until fixed.

It seems silly now a broken kernel sits in testing that clearly should never ever make stable.

Is the updated kernel now planned in admin updates to replace this b43 inhibited one?

This was broken by an official "stable" kernel patch in 2.6.34.2. Please explain carefully and in detail how I would know that b43 was broken, given that I don't have any b43 hardware at all.

We know all about the fix, a kernel with the fix is sitting in koji, a note was added in Bodhi explaining all of that, and all we were waiting for was an offical 2.6.34.3 from upstream in place of the release candidate. In the meantime people can look for other bugs.

No, we're going to leave b43 broken forever.

Closing this now, as the bug never hit a released kernel and 2.6.34.3-37 is now in updates-testing.
