Correct: you'll want to switch to tty2 - not tty3 - to collect the log files. Humm.. Collected the logs, and taken a glance at them. I realized that I wrongly addressed my old F12 repository in my PXE configuration! Once the config fixed, all works fine. Sorry for the trouble.. Regards |
Currently under Fedora 12, trying to install Fedora 13 via PXE boot. When I arrive on the screen where I should be able to choose the partition layout, the listbox with available devices is just empty. In the shell available with Alt+F2, the command "udevadm info --export-db | less" returns all my devices, including my two hard disks and all their existing partitions. The output also indicates that driver is 'sd', but 'modprobe sd' does not work. In the log available with Alt+F3, I see plenty of lines of the type: DEBUG: db entry /dev/.udev/db/\x2fdevices\x2fpci0000:00:08.0\x2fhost2\x2ftarget2:0:0\x2f2:0:0:0\x2fblock\x2fsda does not exist. There is one such line for each disk, plus one line for each partition in each disk. The whole thing appears twice. How reproducible: Always on my workstation. Did not appear on my notebook. Actual results: Unable to continue with the installation. Expected results: Installing f13 ..? Additional info: My workstation is based on a Gigabyte M61P-S3 motherboard. Two IDE DVD reader/writer are attached to the on-board IDE channel (known as /dev/sr{0|1} under fedora12). Two SATA-II disks are attached on SATA-0 and SATA-1 on-board ports (known as /dev/sd{a|b} under fedora12). Note: I had an old NTFS partition as /dev/sda1, and /boot was on /dev/sda2. I have tried to remove the old NTFS partition, moving grub partition to /dev/sda1 (i.e. recreating sda1 as a new ext3 partition, moving data, before deleting old sda2) so that I am pretty sure that first partition of /dev/sda is actually at the beginning of the disk, and does not overlap anywhere. But this has not changed anything :( All appears to me as if devices were known by udev, but for some unknown reason, udev and anaconda are not able to talk to each other..
