not sure when it arrived but after the crash i noticed that there is an updates-available badge in the taskbar that dont think was there a while ago.

How to reproduce
-----
1. was editing a drafted email in thunderbird
2. copied an http address from firefox addressbar
3. pasted link to the draft email
4. thunderbird went unresponsive and crashed

quick read of backtrace

see interesting bit:

"#5  nsImapProtocol::ImapThreadMainLoop (this=0x7f362cc99800)
    at /usr/src/debug/thunderbird-3.0.7/comm-1.9.1/mailnews/imap/src/nsImapProtocol.cpp:1342
        mon = Asked for position 0 of stack, stack only has 0 elements on it."

looks like this is duplicate of a similar bit in bug#627742

so closing this one (bug#637337) as duplicate
