Description of problem: This feature is required to fix the issue of network interfaces not getting the expected names. i.e eth0 does not map to the Integrated NIC 1 as labelled on the server chassis. System firmware communicates the firmware designated order of NICs to the OS via SMBIOS type 41 device type instance. This is available to user space by attribute 'index' as below - [root@libnet-test ~]# cat /sys/class/net/eth[2-5]/device/index 1 2 3 4 Udev should produce rules containing the attribute index to rename interface with 1 to eth0, with index 2 to eth1 and so on.
