Description Larry Woodman 2010-10-20 17:42:04 UTC
Description of problem:

Enable extraction of hugepage pfn(s) from /proc/<pid>/pagemap

Need to backport upstream patches that allow the PFNs of hugepages to be extracted from /proc/<pid#>/pagemap. Without this patch Documentation/vm/page-types.c doesnt show any hugepages because walk_page_range() blindly skips them.

Intel confirmed on the weekly performance call they are using this to bind processes to NUMA nodes and verify those bindings.

How reproducible:

Compile Documentation/vm/page-types.c and run page-types. Without these patches no hugepages are shown. With these patches the ouptou includes hugepages.
