How to reproduce
-----
1. Disable DRI by adding

Option "DRI" "off"

to the Device section in xorg.conf
2. Restart the X server
3. In KDE, go to Fedora menu -> Computer -> System settings -> Desktop effects
4. Enable desktop effects
5. In the Advanced tab, disable functionality checks
6. Click Apply

This bug does not occur if I downgrade to the following packages (which I got from koji) - however, a different bug does occur with these packages (nothing appears, apart from the mouse cursor, after compositing is started)

Mass close of F14 abrt reports.  Please reopen and update summary if this is still reproducable on F16 or later.
