Did you try to test for badblocks? yes, I just tried to reinstall linux 7.3 personnal on my 20GB new hard drive again. I check the boxes during disk druid partition definition for checking for bad blocks. No errors were reported and installation begun after checking. The above shown error was again reported and installation was halted. I just tried a different setup and got the same error message. I removed my original 8GB hard drive completely and installed my new 20GB hard drive as the one and only drive. I then tried to install LINUX 7.3 personnal on the hard drive as if the system would only run LINUX and no other operating system. It made it past the 1st installation disk (which it doesn't always do), but crashed with about 1-2 minutes left in installation (according to the estimated times on the screen). Please try installing w/o checking for bad blocks. I have already...I've done that first couple of tries and then I tried checking for bad blocks....I've tried the default setup, check for bad blocks, not checking for bad blocks, dual hard drives (Windows on 8GB and LINUX on new 20GB), removing the 8GB and installing LINUX on the 20GB so the machine would be a sole LINUX box....nothing has worked yet. I don't have another box to install this software on as this is my only home pc, so i can't test it on another pc. any ideas??? memory..hardware..bios...??? seems to be the same as 64847 I gave up....I tried to install 7.3 in every way I could think of...it wouldn't even install. So, I tried to install 7.1 and whalla...it worked. I then tried to upgrade from 7.1 to 7.3..and it crashed during the install again, but this time left my computer inoperable..wouldn't even boot up correctly. So, I had to start over again..I just installed 7.1 and returned 7.3 to the store. Has it failed the same way as the original report when you have not checked for bad blocks?
