Description of problem:
Following README in hotplug-2002_04_01, executed /sbin/chkconfig --add hotplug.
Message received, " service hotplug does not support chkconfig." Examiation of
hotplug script (living in /etc/rc.d/init.d) shows no entry for chkconfig. e.g.
smb script contains line:
# chkconfig: - 91 35. No such line in hotplug script. Therefore, cannot add it
to services.

We don't use their initscript. We initialize things ourselves in rc.sysinit. No
chkconfig needed, no such script used.

Comment 2 John Verel 2002-05-24 14:35:22 UTC
Checked /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit and do in fact find hotplug reference. Yet,
hotplug not working on this machine. Install is stock 7.3 upgrade from 7.2, in
turn from 6.0 on up.

It's is known to work well in general.

What doesn't work for you?

Comment 4 John Verel 2002-05-24 20:42:46 UTC
Trond,

It works. I had a bad entry in my /etc/modules.conf file. See Gordon Messmer's
note back to me on the Red Hat list this afternoon. My bad. Sorry.
