I got

Hint  : Check cable and TFTP-server is still running                            

Downgrade to tftp-server-0.17-14 from 7.2 fixed the problem.

I'd be happy to take a look at this as soon as I have a test case that is slightly easier to run 
here, or more info on the bug. All I know at the moment is that something is broken.

It turns out that Malta doesn't follow RFC1129/RFC1350.
