Can't reproduce this bug when starting KVIrc with clean configuration and connecting to freenode.
What server you selected before clicking on "Connect Now"?
What desktop are you using?

Comment 3 Thomas Hallgren 2010-11-23 12:42:56 UTC
I select the kornbluth.freenode.net server.
I'm using Gnome desktop.

I tried reinstalling KVIrc but it didn't help. Where does it store its configuration?

Comment 4 nucleo 2010-11-23 13:04:41 UTC
Configuration stored in ~/.config/KVIrc/

I created ticket https://svn.kvirc.de/kvirc/ticket/1024
