when you move a bug like this to gnome, it defeats all the fedora tracking, and basically all my time downloading the debuginfos was wasted.

No, it isn't. This is moved upstream because it's not Fedora specific bug. It's abrt fault that it cannot report to Gnome bugzilla, where, for evolution-related packages, its reports belong. And getting detailed backtraces, with accurate steps to reproduce, gives upstream developers better chance to reproduce and fix the issue, which is always appreciated.
