Description Matěj Cepl 2010-12-02 10:48:58 UTC
It would be nice to have some more complicated examples of pvmove, both about moving extents between to two physical discs or inside of one disc. With moving partial extends and how does it work with pvresize or some other tools.

e.g., example like this

pvs -o +seq_pe_ranges
pvmove /dev/hdd2:550-589 /dev/hdc1
pvresize --setphysicalvolumesizesize 20GB /dev/hdd2

with explanation of individual steps.

And similar example of moving extents on one disc (when we don't have that pvdefrag).

Yes, there are almost no examples in man page and this is very common question.

We need something like examples in lvconvert(8).

Comment 3 RHEL Program Management 2011-01-11 20:41:10 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated in the
current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to address this
request at this time. Red Hat invites you to ask your support
representative to propose this request, if appropriate and relevant,
in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 4 RHEL Program Management 2011-01-11 23:05:12 UTC
This request was erroneously denied for the current release of
Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The error has been fixed and this
request has been re-proposed for the current release.
