How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. created a file called emu10k1.conf in
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profiles.

2. restart system.

3. try to use custom profile.

Actual results: None of the settings in the custom profile are being used.

Expected results: Custom settings in the profile should be used or be selectable somewhere.

Additional info: I created a file called emu10k1.conf in
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profiles.

But it doesn't work.

What does there need to be done to make PA read the emu10k1.conf instead of the
default.conf in profiles?

Dear Lennart,

Can you tell me what I do have to add to /lib/udev/rules.d/90-pulseaudio.rules so that my custom profile emu10k1.conf in /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profiles is used instead of the default.conf?

this is what lspci -nn outputs:

03:02.0 Multimedia audio controller [0401]: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 [1102:0002] (rev 07)

I guess I have to add some similar rule like:

SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="17cc", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1978", ENV{PULSE_PROFILE_SET}="native-instruments-audio8dj.conf"

but I guess in my case the subsys is not "usb".
I don't know what the rule should be, can you help me please?

Regards, Eddie.

I gave up the emu10k1 and bought a new system with intel hd audio onboard. In
windows this card does perfectly multichannel audio.

So i thought this would finally solve my multichannel audio problem in linux.

but what do you think? IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't even provide me with an option to enable surround

So, now I also can forget about 4.1 surround audio and throw away my surround
speakers as well!

I feel pretty much screwed!
