Description of problem:

/proc/partitions not updating after creating LUNs via hpacucli

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

kernel-2.6.18-194.el5

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. hpacucli delete
2. hpacucli create
3. parted 

Actual results:

Parted fails no /dev files

Expected results:

The device files to be created


Additional info:

We're able to fix this problem by updating the CCISS driver to 3.6.26-5. Can we get this driver added as a point release on the -194 kernel?

Customer is creating raid luns using hpacucli tools, after creating the luns the device files have not been created and don't exist until a reboot.  They have done testing and found that upgrading the cciss driver to 3.6.26-5 fixes their problem.  The would like to have cciss updated in kernel-2.6.18-194.el5, which probably won't happen.  Can I get any info on when this would be added?  (5.6, 5.7)?

Hi Jacob,
3.6.28 should be part of -245 kernel, please retest it with the latest kernel.

Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release.  Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products.  This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.

Verified with hpacucli-8.70-8.0 on a ProLiant DL380 G6.
