This is related but different and has been a problem for as many Fedorae as I can remember.

Repro:

1. Dock D620 in dumb DVI dock with laptop closed; only external display enabled.
2. Suspend to RAM.
3. Undock / re-dock
4. Resume

At this point, both displays are on and set to mirror @ the laptop's resolution (1440x900).

Expected results is that the original configuration is preserved, but mainly I'd expect the laptop panel to be OFF.

Sorry if I filed this in the wrong component; not sure what's at fault here...

Comment 2 Chris Bredesen 2011-02-03 19:17:37 UTC
Fully updated Fedora 13 behaves different since I reported this. Given same steps to reproduce, the actual outcome is that both displays are enabled and *not* mirrored. The external display's resolution is correctly set to its native 1680x1050. However, LVDS1 is still enabled even though the lid is closed. Opening the Gnome Monitors applet allows the correct configuration to be selected without any restarts.

Comment 3 Bug Zapper 2011-05-30 12:41:32 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 4 Chris Bredesen 2011-06-15 21:47:24 UTC
This still happens in Fedora-15 with Intel hardware. Current config is a nearly-bone-stock Fedora-15 from LiveCD; Intel Sandy Bridge graphics:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 0126 (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
	Subsystem: Lenovo Device 21cf
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 41
	Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
	Memory at c0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
	I/O ports at 5000 [size=64]
	Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: i915
	Kernel modules: i915

Please do not zap this.

Note that while trying to manually work around this (which did work in Fedora <15), I now encounter bug 713605.

Comment 6 Chris Bredesen 2012-06-27 03:35:28 UTC
Still happening in Fedora 17. Updated the version.

would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2013-08-01 16:34:25 UTC
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
