Description of problem:
RHEL-6 kernels don't build on F14 boxes because of a later make version.

A couple of patches are needed to clean up the Makefiles.

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion
in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has 
requested further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed 
products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update release.

Reproduced in kernel-2.6.32-94.el6 and verified in kernel-2.6.32-112.el6.
