Description Horst H. von Brand 2010-12-17 21:28:23 UTC
Description of problem:
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-config is a dead symlink (to {%_sysconfdir/texmf} or some such)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
texlive-base-2010-13.20101215.fc14.noarch

How reproducible:
Always?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update texlive (perhaps some of the *-bin packages only?)
2.
3.

Actual results:
TeX totally hosed...

$ pdflatex something.tex
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.11 (TeX Live 2011/dev)
 restricted \write18 enabled.

kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdflatex.fmt
I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!

Downgrading texlive-base-2010 to 13.20101102.fc14 and running "fmtutil-sys --all" as root has absolutely no effect. Reinstalling texlive-latex-* doesn't help either.

Expected results:

Thanks for reporting. I've notices Matthew Saltzman's post on texlive and other people also mailed me personally so I fixed it immediately after I spotted this.

It should be fixed in texlive-base-20101217.
