SELinux is preventing /opt/google/chrome/chrome from 'read' accesses on the file /etc/localtime. ***** Plugin restorecon (99.5 confidence) suggests ************************* If you want to fix the label. /etc/localtime default label should be locale_t. Then you can run restorecon. Do # /sbin/restorecon -v /etc/localtime ***** Plugin catchall (1.49 confidence) suggests *************************** If you believe that chrome should be allowed read access on the localtime file by default. Then you should report this as a bug. You can generate a local policy module to allow this access. Do allow this access for now by executing: # grep /opt/google/chrome/chrome /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol # semodule -i mypol.pp Additional Information: Source Context unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c 0.c1023 Target Context system_u:object_r:etc_runtime_t:s0 Target Objects /etc/localtime [ file ] Source chrome Source Path /opt/google/chrome/chrome Port <Unknown> Host (removed) Source RPM Packages google-chrome-stable-8.0.552.224-68599 Target RPM Packages glibc-2.12.90-21 Policy RPM selinux-policy-3.9.7-19.fc14 Selinux Enabled True Policy Type targeted Enforcing Mode Enforcing Host Name (removed) Platform Linux (removed) 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 23 16:04:50 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 Alert Count 95 First Seen Sat 01 Jan 2011 10:39:23 AM CST Last Seen Sat 01 Jan 2011 10:50:22 AM CST Local ID cec99a89-41c8-4a37-b25a-4f30a23fae97 Raw Audit Messages type=AVC msg=audit(1293900622.479:31198): avc: denied { read } for pid=2483 comm="chrome" name="localtime" dev=sda3 ino=768 scontext=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 tcontext=system_u:object_r:etc_runtime_t:s0 tclass=file chrome,chrome_sandbox_t,etc_runtime_t,file,read type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1293900622.479:31198): arch=x86_64 syscall=open success=no exit=EACCES a0=1f4ac03 a1=0 a2=1b6 a3=0 items=0 ppid=0 pid=2483 auid=500 uid=500 gid=501 euid=500 suid=500 fsuid=500 egid=501 sgid=501 fsgid=501 tty=(none) ses=1 comm=chrome exe=/opt/google/chrome/chrome subj=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:chrome_sandbox_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 key=(null) chrome,chrome_sandbox_t,etc_runtime_t,file,read #============= chrome_sandbox_t ============== allow chrome_sandbox_t etc_runtime_t:file read;
