Description Ayal Baron 2011-01-02 07:42:59 UTC
Description of problem:
In RHEVM, a Virtual Machine can have multiple disk images spread across multiple LVs. Right now, these images are limited to the same VG, but we are going to remove this limitation.
In order to take a consistent, "live" snapshot of the entire machine, we will need to be able to snapshot multiple LVs from different VGs simultaneously (pause multiple kernel targets?).
This was discussed with Alasdair, who raised a concern about running out of memory if done in kernel.

This is only needed to work with the new snapshots (see BZ#636037), not the existing snapshots.

Comment 1 Sayan Saha 2011-05-27 12:29:00 UTC
Current capacities do not allow inclusion of this RFE in RHEL 6.2. Moving this out to RHEL 6.3 for re-consideration.

Comment 2 Peter Rajnoha 2012-01-04 14:34:02 UTC
Let's settle the new snapshot code in place first, I'm moving this additional RFE for 6.4.

Comment 4 RHEL Program Management 2012-07-10 07:22:18 UTC
This request was not resolved in time for the current release.
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in
the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 5 RHEL Program Management 2012-07-10 23:56:15 UTC
This request was erroneously removed from consideration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4, which is currently under development. This request will be evaluated for inclusion in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.

Comment 6 Tom Lavigne 2012-09-07 15:18:50 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Since we are unable to provide this feature at this time,
it has been proposed for the next release of
Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
