Description Steve Traylen 2011-01-13 15:33:51 UTC
Hi,

Would it be possible to consider updating gdal in EPEL5 form the 1.4 release

I see that both on Fedora 14 and EPEL5 the provides are identical so from a purely
RPM dependency point of view it is okay to change.

> rpm -q --provides gdal
libgdal.so.1()(64bit)

I also tried rebuilding the current fedora rawhide package on EPEL5 but it does not
build okay so this request may not be possible or rather easy to do.

In particular EPEL5 has "libdap-3.7.8-1.el5.1" and I see from here:

http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/2404

that gdal was altered in a non-backwards compatible way to work with libdap 3.8.

Here's hoping something can be done?

Steve.

I expect nothing can or should be done. Closing my own submission.
