Confirmed that this works on a real Hyper-V system. However we also need the following upstream patch: http://git.annexia.org/?p=virt-what.git;a=commitdiff;h=0e90af4014da8065a4062319921288baf972c6fb Thus setting the bug back to ASSIGNED state. We have verified that virt-what identifies hyper-V guests correctly: # virt-what hyperv An advisory has been issued which should help the problem described in this bug report.
