Description of problem:

Upon service startup in kernels 2.6.37-git8 and onwards (last tested: 2.6.37-git16), the Avahi daemon hangs at "starting" for 20" and then prints out a [FAILED] tag on console.

[asuardi@duff ~]$ rpm -q avahi
avahi-0.6.27-2.fc14.x86_64

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. build a 2.6.37-git8+ kernel
2. reboot into said kernel
3. observe 20" hang in boot sequence as per description. Same happens doing a service restart
  
Actual results:

Avahi service appears to fail to start.

Expected results:

Avahi service should start normally.

Additional info:

Discussion as of why this doesn't appear to be a kernel problem, but rather an Avahi problem uncovered by a recent kernel patch, along with a suggested Avahi fix:

Also note that due to bug 651328 it is currently impossible to rebuild Avahi from the F14 SRPM - so I can't try the suggested fix in a simple way.

Closing the bug as NOTABUG, as the original upstream change was reverted and replaced by code that does not break avahi-daemon's current behavior.

I have nonetheless fixed Avahi upstream now.
