Description Penelope Fudd 2011-01-18 20:23:51 UTC
Description of problem:
The latest versions of tcsh have been updated to include an 'autorehash' function, which, when enabled (set autorehash=1) means never having to type 'rehash' when you add a new executable to the system.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
tcsh-6.17-8.fc14.i686

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. cp /bin/echo /bin/foobar
2. foobar something
3. rehash
4. foobar something
5. rm /bin/foobar
6. rehash
7. repeat, with 'set autorehash=1'

Actual results:
No change; autorehash is just a variable.

Expected results:
Rehash will be run when a command is not found, and the command tried again.

I don't know where to find tcsh-6.17.02, as www.tcsh.org only goes up to tcsh-6.17.00, but Debian has it.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how to flag this as 'request for enhancement', sorry.

Comment 2 Vojtech Vitek 2011-01-19 10:11:03 UTC
Sorry, I am not going to update tcsh to 6.17.02 _beta_(!) version in stable Fedora release.
See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy#Stable_Releases for reference.

Most recent _stable_ version of tcsh is still 6.17.00 right now (Jan 2011), see:
http://www.tcsh.org/MostRecentRelease

Feel free to fill a new update request against Fedora Rawhide.
