Description Danny Stieben 2011-01-25 03:16:18 UTC
In both versions 1.3.2 and 1.4.2 (Fedora main repo and testing-updates repo, respectively) no menu entries are created for Tomboy during installation. Such entries have to be added manually. It would be great if those entries would be created during installation.

bug 637416 is related, although not a direct duplicate (even after enabling the gnome-applet someone might want to start tomboy directly via the menu)

stop deleting the desktop file

According to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackagingGuidelines#Desktop_files , these desktop files shouldn't be removed.

I did a scratch build with this change and verified that the desktop file is created. Because I don't have a machine running rawhide, I am not currently able to test this, but it looks like a valid .desktop file to me.

rpm -qpl tomboy-1.5.2-4.fc16.x86_64.rpm | grep tomboy.desktop
/usr/share/applications/tomboy.desktop

$ rpm2cpio ../tomboy-1.5.2-4.fc16.x86_64.rpm | cpio -id
25061 blocks
$ ls
etc  usr
$ desktop-file-validate usr/share/applications/tomboy.desktop
$ echo $?
0

Oh, and launching tomboy --search does work with a local copy of tomboy 1.4.2 :)

Comment 3 Thomas Moschny 2011-03-30 10:03:44 UTC
In fact not deleting the file is not enough, the package guidelines require the spec file to run desktop-file-validate on it.

Comment 4 Fedora Admin XMLRPC Client 2011-06-01 17:14:35 UTC
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.
