Description Jason Montleon 2011-01-25 15:06:30 UTC
Description of problem:
The Canon imageRunner C5185i Foomatic/Postscript driver in RHEL6 does not print despite indicating that the print job was sent successfully

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rpm -qa | grep foomatic
gutenprint-foomatic-5.2.5-2.el6.x86_64
foomatic-db-ppds-4.0-7.20091126.el6.noarch
foomatic-4.0.4-1.el6.x86_64
foomatic-db-filesystem-4.0-7.20091126.el6.noarch
foomatic-db-4.0-7.20091126.el6.noarch

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL6
2. Configure CUPS to print to a Canon imageRunner C5185i with the Foomatic/Postscript driver
3. Try to print a document

Actual results:
Nothing prints despite CUPS acting as if the job was properly processed

Expected results:
The document prints

Additional info:
This affected multiple CUPS servers and Canon imageRunner C5185i's after RHEL5 servers were moved to RHEL6. We were able to work around the problem by using the Foomatic/pxlcolor drivers, but this should not have been necessary.

This line in error_log looks like texttopaps failed to render any output:
