Can you add the printer via CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631/admin/) and try to print ?
Please attach diagnostic log from it. Thanks

Comment 4 Javier Jardón 2011-01-27 11:17:14 UTC
Hello Jiri,

I can't connect to http://localhost:631/admin

"Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:631"

Comment 5 Jiri Popelka 2011-01-27 12:05:32 UTC
Whoops I see it too :-(
Obviously not a cups-1.4.6 problem because I see it also with cups-1.4.4.
I will investigate it later.

However the troubleshooter output you had attached shows that there's a problem with device uri lpd://BRND967DD/BINARY_P1

Can you see anything strange in that name (especially any missing characters) ?

Comment 6 Tim Waugh 2011-01-27 12:34:29 UTC
Javier: I think it would also be interesting to know exactly what steps you took when setting up this print queue.

Comment 7 Javier Jardón 2011-01-27 12:56:31 UTC
@Tim:

I've used the print wizard

New printer -> network printer -> search in 192.169.x.x
It found 2 printers, JetDirect and Brother MFC-9440CN.
I select the Brother one:
Host: BRND967DD
Queue: BINARY_P1

Choose a driver -> select "search for a printer driver to download"
The model was found and the driver installed

Comment 8 Javier Jardón 2011-01-27 13:02:51 UTC
OK, if I select

JetDirect -> connection expander -> ipp (note that default is LDP/LPR queue 'PASSTHRU') the printer works without problems

Comment 9 Tim Waugh 2011-01-27 13:30:20 UTC
OK, looks like a duplicate of bug #506803, STR #3239.
