KDE writes its own xresources file to allow non-KDE applications to share KDE settings to ensure a more consistant look and feel. If you don't like it, go to KControl > Look & Feel > Colors and deselect "Apply colors to non-KDE applications, that way, KDE's settings won't be applied to non-KDE applications. What's the latest status of this? The "KControl > Look & Feel > Colors > Apply colors to non-KDE applications" doesn't change a thing. With Valhalla and KDE, my ~/.Xresources file is not being loaded. For instance, my resource definitions for xterm don't get activated automatically. But as a work-around I could switch to ~/.Xdefaults (which is deprecated). With Limbo and KDE, my ~/.Xresources file _is_ loaded again (and ~/.Xdefaults has been dropped finally). I deselected "Apply colors to non-KDE applications" and emacs window size was affected by the entry in .Xresources. fix verified. closing -> RAWHIDE Works for me with updated (null) [but still not with Valhalla, I think]. Since the original bug report was for

the resolution is wrong, because it is still broken there.
"KControl > Look & Feel > Colors > Apply colors to non-KDE applications" is off.
After KDE log-in, "xrdb -query" returns nothing.
So, while this may be fixed for Milan, what's the proper fix for Valhalla?
Oops, my mistake. didn't look at the product:version. Red Hat Linux 7.3 has reached end-of-life, and this bug is not reproducible since Red Hat Linux 8.0. Hence I assume this two years old ticket is just bugzilla cadaver. |
