Description Lubos Kocman 2011-01-31 17:45:07 UTC
Description of problem:

I have one HP Z200 workstation with nVidia Corporation G98 [Quadro NVS 295] (rev a1)

The problem is that Xorg picked vesa except of nv as a default driver.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.1.1-48.76.el5_5.2
xorg-x11-drv-nv-2.1.15-4.el5

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Obtain setup with Quadro NVS 295
2. Install fresh copy of rhel5.6

Actual results:

vesa was picked up as a default driver

Expected results:

nv should be used as a default driver

Additional info:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G98 [Quadro NVS 295] (rev a1)

nv works fine after editing Xorg.conf

Comment 1 Lubos Kocman 2011-02-01 10:43:48 UTC
Seems like something generated xorg.conf with vesa inside. See attached xorg.conf and log without using xorg.conf (nv detected correctly).
