Can you please provide some more info on the machine in question (brand, model, chipset, etc.). Also lm_sensors only does monitoring by default (pwmconfig and the control scripts are not used by default), and your BIOS should leave your fans in a sane state after POST / your ACPI implementation should control them. Have you tried upgrading your BIOS? Moving this over to the kernel since this is a kernel issue. Sorry it took so long to get this to you, acer laptop aspire 7720, dual core 1.6ghz, intel chipset, the system will get hot enough to shut itself down. Once restarted the CPU fan comes back on and will stay on if the cpu is hot enough to keep it on. I have not tried updating the bios yet, I will try it this week.... Did you ever try updating the BIOS and is this still an issue with the latest f14 or f15 kernel? |
