Description David Le Sage 2011-02-01 21:42:01 UTC
Description of problem:
Using the rawhide live CD snapshot from 30/1/2011 as part of the GNOME 3 testing:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2011-02-03_GNOME3_Alpha#Test_Results

I discovered that you can only create new Jabber connections from the dropdown list. IRC and all other protocols are not available.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from rawhide live CD
2. Launch Empathy from GNOME 3 and choose to join a new account.
3. Jabber is the only protocol available from the drop-down.

Actual results:
Only Jabber acailable.

Expected results:
Drop-down should contain list of protocols from which to choose.

Hmmm, I just downloaded the livecd img from the test page and started Empathy and it showed all the available connection managers in the set-up account dialog like it is supposed to. Not sure why your experiencing this bug. I'm using the x86 image, but really there should be any differnce between the x86 & x86_64 images. Is there any other information you can provide? Thanks.

I'll have another look at it on the weekend. I was using the x86 image, too.

I also ran the live CD on a machine at home and I experienced the same issue with Empathy there.

Does the CD have updated SELinux policies? I'm wondering if this is the same problem as Bug 586610 which appears to be fixed in F13.

Comment 4 David Le Sage 2011-02-15 23:26:04 UTC
I have looked at it again and replicated the issue. I do not know what version of SELinux policies are deployed on that image. I am not sure why it is happening to me but not Brian Pepple.

Is there anything else you would like me to do to test it or obtain info?

Comment 5 David Le Sage 2011-02-16 05:40:11 UTC
Good news: I just tried the latest build (Fed 15 Alpha TC2) from here:

http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/15-Alpha.TC2/Live/

and I can now access all of the protocols from the drop-down list.

Closing this. Please feel free to reopen it if you think I am stupid.
