spec file diff

Description of problem: GRUB2 1.99 contains a metric ton of very useful changes, please, update GRUB2 package.

spec file diff is attached.

Patches are no longer required: two of them are now merged upsteam, /boot/grub2 is no longer required since configure script uses program-transform-name for this directory name.

It builds perfectly on my PC using the attached SPEC file, what is the error on your side?

troubles with GCC-4.6.

see build.log: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2809225

Wow, Fedora developers cannot temporarily add "-Werror=unused-but-set-variable" GCC flag to the spec file?

I won't be surprised if GRUB developers don't care about GCC 4.6.x, so this bug will take several more months to be fixed in upstream. Does that mean Fedora users have to depend on GRUB developers mercy?

Besides:

Has anyone bothered building GRUB 1.99-rc1?

Complain in devel.org, broad audience.

I'm going to install GCC 4.6 right now to check if there's really an error.

If there is, I'm gonna attach a new SPEC file so that people could use a fresh GRUB release regardless Fedora developers utter sleepiness and occupation. :)

I won't bother writing to a mailing list on the weekend - I bet my message will be overlooked.

Comment 10 Dennis Gilmore 2011-02-12 17:42:17 UTC
this is a duplicate please post comments in the correct bug. whinging in bugzilla or on a list will not help get a package updated any quicker.

Cool, I'm _offering_ my help, I've updated the SPEC file so it worked with GRUB 1.99 and you call it whining?

Thank you very much! (it's sarcasm in case you've missed it - I wanted to use the most often used obscene word instead of "thank", but it won't be appropriate for this place).
