Description Jonathan Kamens 1999-11-05 13:17:00 UTC
My new PC has 256Mb of RAM. I really don't need a swap
partition. Nevertheless, when I attempted to install RedHat
6.1 using the graphical installer, it wouldn't let me
proceed past the disk druid without specifying a swap
partition.

It would be fine for the installer to display a warning if
the user attempts to proceed without a swap partition. But
it really shouldn't be mandatory.

This is the programmed behavior of the installer and therefore not a
bug. There are a couple of ways around this little feature however.
One, you can run the installer in expert mode, which will allow you to
skip specifying a swap partition. The other is that you perform the
install in normal mode, but just specify a 1M swap partition which you
then remove from /etc/fstab as soon as you reboot the machine.
