Dear Fedora Kernel Team.

For our robots we have two Logitech Rumplepad joypads which support force feedback. I have recently added support for force feedback to our robot software (Fawkes, included in Fedora) and it is fun and can help for instance during mapping (rumble when laser data is getting worse or you are close to an obstacle for instance).

However, support for this joypad has only recently been added. But since we have only a yearly upgrade cycle for our machines (for maintenance) reasons, it'll be almost another year until it would be regularly supported for us.

Therefore, I would like to ask to apply the following commit to the F-14 kernel and enable it in the configuration. It is only adding a USB ID, a config option, and extending a text string, and therefore basically no-risk.

I have tried the F-15 kernel on F-14, and the joystick works like a charm. But unfortunately I have seen wifi problems, and we would like to keep using the stable system rather than rawhide/F-15 devel. So we would like it better to see support in the F-14 kernel.

If you submit this for the linux stable kernel series and ask for it to be included in 2.6.35 and 2.6.36, it will be available for everyone, not just Fedora. See Documentation/stable_kernel_rules.txt, and note that you need to include [stable] in the subject of your message when submitting the patch.

I can do so, but I was hoping for the quicker solution to get this integrated as a patch in the kernel package. I don't really care for this particular thing about other distros, I just want to get it running on the robot which employ Fedora. Any chance this gets added here quickly?
