Description Gianluca Sforna 2011-02-18 11:22:26 UTC
Trying to boot liveCD from 20110217 the shell does not start. Graphic card is a GeForce G210

Comment 1 Joachim Frieben 2011-02-18 19:33:58 UTC
This is unlikely to be "nouveau" issue: the real issue is that the GNOME shell is not started by default. However, "gnome-shell --replace &" is likely to launch the GNOME shell successfully. On a system with a Radeon X800, this is exactly what happens when booting from desktop-i386-20110217.22.iso. However, after the system got installed from the F15 Alpha TC2 netinst boot.iso, the GNOME shell ran by default.
Please verify your observation and in case, the GNOME shell starts, set the component to livecd, thanks!

Ah, that would explain why I witnessed the same on different systems. I'm not able to retest on the same machine until Monday, but I'll try to check if that is the case on another system I have at home.

Please, do so, and then add drm.debug=0x04 to the kernel command line, restart computer, and attach

* your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available),
* X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log)
* output of the dmesg command, and
* system log (/var/log/messages)

to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link above.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

Ok. running "gnome-shell --replace" definitely starts the shell but I hit bug #677371 afterwards.

I guess this can be reassigned to livecd. Matej, are the same logs needed in that case?

OK, let's close it for now. And if you find something more about the issue file a new bug (or reopen this one), please.

Thank you
