Description Bruno Wolff III 2011-02-19 20:30:24 UTC
Description of problem:
I have a local printer attached to the parallel port and jobs sent to it just queue up. Normally a light on the printer is supposed to blink during data transfer and I am not seeing that. The printer used to work on F13. I was only on F14 briefly before going to rawhide (now F15) and didn't try to print anything while using F14.

The printer is an espon stylus 870. I tried several of the recommend ppd files and they didn't affect the results.
I submitted the jobs using lp.
The jobs were plain text files.

This turns out to be a result of doing an incorrect work around for /dev/lp0 not being created. I tried to use /dev/parport0 instead.
